Wood You? is project by seniors in product design at the Iceland Academy of the Arts. Sustainably sourcing wood from local forests, the young designers explore a backyard alternative to imported timber, on which Iceland has historically relied. The pieces created include tables with branch legs, biodegradable planters, jewelry, decorative sandblasted firewood, papery-looking cooking spoons, and even balloons. Imaginative, naturalist, and sometimes rustic, the designs show the potential of both Iceland’s wood and students.
