Wooden Box House by Moloney Architects

Designed as an extension to a 1910 house, the Wooden Box House respects the historical context of the original building while providing a contemporary, open and spacious living space. The addition joins the home and office of the Moloney Architects architecture and interior design studio, co-founded by architects Mick and Jules Moloney.

The new wooden addition occupies the northern section of the property and features large windows that flood the interior with sunlight. A spacious window seat provides the perfect place to relax and catch some sun while reading a book. The integrated storage space filled with toys also beckons the children to play. The kitchen includes a central island which boasts a cooktop to encourage conversation and interaction between family members while cooking. Natural materials appear throughout the extension, from the Tasmanian oak to the cedar cladding and the wooden floors. Outside, a deck area and garden offer a quiet and relaxing outdoor living space.
