Ampersands Design, a Virginia-based business run by Andrew & Lauren O’Dell, uses its logo and namesake to the fullest by combining materials and production methods in creating their “Wool & Wood” cases. Each piece is handmade through the processes of steam-bending for the wooden half of the case and die-cutting for the fabric of the sleeve, which comes in a variety of sizes to suit the iPad, a mini-tablet, a smartphone, and even standard business cards. The eco-friendly and soft feel of the industrial wool is complemented by the durable wood that protects the sleeve’s contents, the two materials forming a perfect synergy. Ampersands Design currently has a Kickstarter page to help launch expanded and more efficient production of the cases, though every case is sure to be crafted with the same heart and soul.
