1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSH 2.7

A collector’s dream, come true.

As dedicated Porsche fans know, the brand’s most iconic models are the 356 Speedster from the ‘54-‘58 era and the 1973 Carrera RS. And the latter also comes in a rarer variety. One of only 17 models in the world, this 1973 Porsche 2.7 Carrera RSH will go to auction at RM Sotheby’s. A special event for collectors and Porsche aficionados in equal measure. Designed in the early ‘70s for the FIA Group GT/Special Sports Car category, the car featured a lighter and customized 911 S platform. The RS also had a fiberglass Bürzel engine lid spoiler and fiberglass front and rear fascias. Porsche produced a total of 1,525 Carrera RS cars, including just 17 RSHs, or Homologation models.

Available through RM Sotheby’s, this beauty comes with a Type 911/83 2.7-liter engine which has the original aluminum case and produces 210 bhp. Coupled with the upgraded Type 915 suspension, it reaches a top speed of around 150 mph. Original features include the Bosch H1 dual-bulb headlights as well as the thin Glaverbel rear quarter glass. Restored wheel openings and flares made the car look as good as new. Likewise, refinishing the alloy wheels and repainting the car in the original Light Ivory paint brought the iconic 911 back to life.

In 2016, this 1973 Porsche 2.7 Carrera RSH underwent another period-correct restoration to return several details to original specs. Among them, the exhaust system as well as some of the chassis and engine hardware. The car comes with a collapsible spare tire, jack, tools, air compressor, and manuals. Of course, the lucky new owner will also receive a Certificate of Authenticity, registration records, ownership history, and factory correspondence. You can see this beauty at Monterey 2018 from 22 August. Auctions take place on 24-25 August. Photographs© RM Sotheby’s.
