3D Printer for Unique Ceramics

Olivier van Herpt has created a 3D printer and extruder system for making pottery. The innovative technology brings a new material to the world of large-scale 3D printing and allows for sculptors and designers alike to form fresh textures and shapes. This is an important move aesthetically and functionally, as ceramics have a distinct look from plastics and are more safe for use with hot food. The printer also shows potential for creating affordable one-of-a-kind objects. The printer can mass-produce designs, saving time and money for manufacturers. But all creative power is not lost. The malleable nature of the clay allows each item to be turned into a unique piece with as little as a touch.
