Oli-Bird is a recent creation by the Finnish designer Nikolo Kerimov. Exploring what “luxury” could possibly mean to animals, the critical design is a birdhouse sarcastically targeted at “rich birds.” The birdhouse’s metallic roof gleams over the glass jar structure and polished wooden entrance and perch, elements strapped together with cognac-colored leather. For people, the item signifies wealth more than the average man-made nest. Yet, the design begs the question, would a bird even use it, encouraging us to think about what gives finery value.
