Aesh and Tweed Furniture Collection

Born in Austria and now based in London, Georg Oehler allows both Austrian and British design to influence his work. The Aesh and Tweed Collection, the first series of furniture Oehler has created since going solo, demonstrates his multicultural impulse. Aesh and Tweed includes an armchair, a coffee table, and a footstool. The pieces are made of locally sourced ash wood and upholstered in gray and purple tweed handwoven on the Isle of Bute. While drawing from British materials, the furnishings utilize artisan techniques practiced in Austria such that an interlocking mortise and system of tenon joints eliminates the need for any 90-degree angles. The impressively blended collection debuted at Clerkenwell Design Week 2014.
