The first monograph of Alvisi Kirimoto chronicles 20 years of the studio’s award-winning work.

International architectural and urban design practice Alvisi Kirimoto was founded by Massimo Alvisi and Junko Kirimoto in 2002. To celebrate 20 years of inspiring work, the architects have published the studio’s first monograph. Published by Gruppo Maggioli, Alvisi Kirimoto. History, Nature, Work. chronicles the projects completed by the architecture firm across two decades. The work ranges from urban planning and architecture to interior design and product design, built across Italy and abroad. Throughout their award-winning work, the two architects explore concepts of urban regeneration, the importance of engaging with social issues, and creating a dialogue between architecture and nature. Italian and Japanese sensibilities also blend in the studio’s approach to design, resulting in tailored spaces that are thoughtfully minimalist and beautifully detailed.

Alvisi Kirimoto. History, Nature, Work. features projects that follow three main themes, captured in the book’s title. Over two decades, the firm has designed a series of awe-inspiring spaces, which now appear together for the very first time. The book also explores the two founders’ backgrounds and their Japanese and Apulian roots, as well as their complementary specializations and affinities. For example, Massimo Alvisi focuses more on urban and collective dimensions, and Junko Kirimoto brings an artistic vision to the studio’s work. The architects have won many awards and international competitions, including an honorable mention at the EU Mies van der Rohe award and the International Architecture Award 2021 from The Chicago Athenaeum.

The book has 256 pages and features an introduction by writer and architecture critic Philip Jodidio as well as informative texts that accompany images. Finally, The Plan Editions has completed the book’s design. Launched in May 2023, Alvisi Kirimoto. History, Nature, Work. is available either as a hardcover or a digital version.
