Angular Urban Home in Catania, Italy

Dubbed Casa SG, this home in in Catania, Italy, plays with angles in what the architects of tuttiarchitetti call “six degrees of rotation.” The house stacks an irregular wooden volume atop a rectangular lava stone base level, contrasting shape and material. Despite its unusual form, the home looks somewhat like a contemporary cottage nestled in between high-rise apartments.

Inside, the angles carve into the rooms, making diagonal terraces and wooden divisions. Additionally, the contemporary aesthetic of the exterior translates to interior contrasts such as the dark floors paired with white walls and the staircase split into attached and floating sections. The resulting design is a truly urban home that reflects the fast-paced changes of city life.
