The Moheim Architectural Signs Collection

A collection of architectural signs designed for both public and private spaces.

Japanese designer Shigeichiro Takeuchi has always admired beautifully designed signage and architectural signs that provide a balanced blend of style and function. Often specially created for specific architectural and interior design projects, custom signs showcase the architects’ attention to the smallest details. At the same time, custom architectural signage becomes inaccessible to the wider public. With these concepts in mind, the designer has created the Signs collection for Japanese household product brand Moheim. Launched in 2019, the series had only one product at first, the Restroom sign. Over the next few years, the collection grew to include a wide range of interior signage and exterior signs.

While generally considered a product for public areas, the series has also been popular with private customers. For example, a bathroom sign allows guests to easily find the restroom without asking their host. Other signs from the collection add a creative accent to living spaces. Simple and clean, the Signs pictograms look at home in any space, from restaurants and hotels to offices, shops, and residential settings. The design also adds an elegant touch to a room or public area.

The Signs collection features 13 different architectural signs and minimalist signage. Among them, ADA compliant signs and gender neutral restroom signs. Similarly to directories and wayfinding signage, these exterior and interior signs provide a practical and elegant way to guide people – whether in a public or a private setting. The Signs range comprises restroom, gender neutral, accessible, wash hands, shower, ostomate & baby, no phone, cafe, restaurant, wi-fi, arrow, no smoking, and smoking signs.

Made from acrylic, the signage comes in White, Black and Gray. White oak, walnut, and brass versions are also available. On the back, each pictogram features an adhesive tape that makes attaching the signs on a wall or door as easy as possible. Additionally, the packaging itself doubles as a guide to find the perfect placement position. The Shigeichiro Takeuchi-designed Signs collection has received the Good Design Award 2022.
