The comfort of a hammock is entirely given by the support of fabric in tension, and the same concept is used in the BUM Stool, a travel seat that can be interpreted as – well – a hammock for your bum. Designed as a collaborative work between our friend François Chambard of UM Project and BAGGU for Reclaim x2, the stool is a playful reincarnation of mobile furniture and temporariness, both appropriate themes given the project’s support of the Brooklyn Recovery Fund for Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. The lacquered maple tripod that stretches the canvas seat stands on feet in colored varieties of red, blue, and fluorescent yellow. The whole set is made ever the more portable by a matching shoulder strap, allowing the rested to continue their adventures and the lazy to just… bum around.
