One of designer Zachary Rotholzās best-selling pieces of Chairigami furniture is his standing desk, a 42-inch desk made of cardboard. In the past, Rotholz hand-crafted the desk in his studio in New Haven, Connecticut, but, as the design grew more and more popular, doing everything himself became more and more of a struggle. Now, Rotholz hopes to partner with local manufacturers in Connecticut, and there is a Kickstarter campaign in the works to support his vision. The newly produced standing desk would be made of single-wall cardboard instead of triple-wall cardboard, weighing in at just fifteen pounds and withstanding loads of up to 300 pounds. Like the earlier version, the no-nonsense design comes flat-packed for DIY installation, no additional materials required. Affordable and 100% recyclable, the standing desk is an inspired choice for eco-conscious people on the move.
