The Cat Hill Barn stands in in South Yorkshire, England, nearby historic Cat Hill Hall. Originally part of the Chisat Hill property, the barn dates back to the 1700s and is a Grade II listed building on the UK’s Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. As the barn was in disrepair, Snook Architects obtained permission to renovate the building and convert it into a private home. Today, the house is reinforced by a steel frame and topped with a rebuilt roof, but the structure keeps much of the original wood and stone. Inside, wood rafters and floors evoke the building’s past, while glass and steel additions modernize the space. Unified by a neutral color scheme, the Cat Hill Barn, now residence, is as darkly cozy as a rainy day.
