Maison et Objet nominated Nendo’s head creative force, Oki Sato, for designer of the year at their 2015 festivities in France. To celebrate, Nendo is making Chocolatexture, a boxed chocolate set to be sold at Maison et Objet this Friday, January 23. Produced in a limited edition run of 400, the sets will include intricate confections inspired by the onomatopoeia of certain Japanese descriptions, such as “tsubu tsubu” (meaning “grainy”) and “toge toge” (meaning “thorny”). Though made of the same kind of chocolate, each creation has a distinct taste. That’s not just a designer bragging; it’s a scientifically proven phenomenon that shape affects how fast each pieces melts, causing the chemicals released to take on a unique flavor. In short, there’s more to this sweet geometric design than meets the eye.
