Christopher Ward C8 Power Reserve Chronometer

Inspired by classic British aviation timepieces but designed with a modern personality, the new Christopher Ward C8 Power Reserve Chronometer pays a refined and subtle homage to the classic Smith Mk II A Spitfire cockpit clock. Red accents, an altimeter-inspired calendar and two sub-dials accentuate the aviation instrument aesthetic, but the watch is much more than a stylish take on the historical timepieces.

The 44mm stainless steel case features a sandblasted DLC finish for extra protection against scratches and has sapphire crystal covering the front and back. Inside, the hand-wound Calibre SH21 movement powers the watch for five days on one charge. Both the face and the back feature a stunning attention to detail. The matte black dial has two layers and comes with raised indexes at every quarter-hour; a sub-seconds counter and a power reserve sub-dial are joined by an altimeter-inspired date calendar boasting laser cut numbers, yet the face is maintain uncluttered and elegant. The hands, indexes and numbers are finished with SuperLuminova ‘Old Radium’ to provide maximum legibility in low light conditions. The black plate on the back features a sandblasted finish and cutouts that reveal the SH21’s twin barrels which stand out thanks to the design reminiscent of wind turbines. The beautiful C8 Power Reserve Chronometer comes with camel, brown and black leather straps and is now available to pre-order on the brand’s website. Photo credits: Christopher Ward.
