Finding out that Peugeot has designed the first folding electric bicycle in the world comes as a welcome surprise to many cyclists, but the French brand actually has a rich history of creating compact, folding bikes. The first one dates back to 1892 and was designed by Captain Henri Gerard for the French army, with other models launched more recently, in the 70s. But eF01 certainly opens a new path as it adds the convenience of an electric motor to the mix to offer a fantastic commuting option for urban dwellers. The bike weighs just 37 pounds and can be folded in about 10 seconds, fitting perfectly in the trunk of a car or under a desk. Thanks to the Dockstation, it can be fully charged in two hours using any 12-volt power outlet; it has a range of around 18 miles and a top speed of 12mph. A patented memory system for the saddle ensures maximum comfort while riding, while the Bluetooth connectivity and the dedicated app offer information about the range and battery levels.
