This farmhouse was designed by 3+1 architekti for a client who wanted to return to his hometown, the village of Košálov, Czech Republic. The home mirrors the colloquial architecture in material. Salvaging limestone and basalt from an old barn, the primary volume is made of stone like most of the surrounding structures. The secondary volume is clad in wood, a new yet natural addition. The two spaces are linked by a slate gray patio which contrasts with both exteriors. Inside, skylights and vertical windows bring light into the home without disrupting the traditional facade.
