Besonias Almeida Arquitectos is a Buenos Aires-based architecture practice founded in 2012 by María Victoria Besonias and Guillermo de Almeida. Both architects have been working independently since 1975 and have previously founded the BAKarquitectos studio in 2000. María Victoria Besonias is also a lecturer at FADU at the University of Buenos Aires, while Guillermo de Almeida is a member of the College of Buenos Aires High Council of Architecture. The studio’s mission is to achieve an aesthetic quality by peeling away ‘what is not’ to find the essence of architecture. Maintaining a balance between boldness and caution, the practice rejects specialization in favor of new research and innovative concepts. The limited use of materials and the minimalist designs are not merely an aesthetic choice, but a decision meant to promote sustainability and a conscious use of resources. The vast majority of the studio’s residential projects use nature as a crucial component in the design, integrating distinctly modern structures into natural landscapes.
