Dean Norton was born in Essex, England. After studying graphic design, he realized he wanted to become an interior designer; in 2008, he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Retail Industrial Design at the University of the Arts in London. He later moved to Melbourne, Australia, where he opened his own design studio in 2017. Following the mantra “minimalism, simplicity, shape, and form”, the designer creates enduring objects, furniture and lighting that straddle the line between art and design. Sculptural, organic and often designed with an ethereal beauty, Dean Norton’s work also explores materiality and light in creative ways. Materials frequently found in his work include glass, steel, mirrored surfaces, and wood. The designer has exhibited his award-winning work in Australia and Italy, with the Concave Convex Mirror included in the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Victoria.
