Léonard Kadid

Léonard Kadid is a French architect and product designer. He completed his studies at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and at the École d’Architecture de la Ville et des Territoires in Paris. After his graduation, he worked as an architect for well-known studios, including Herzog & de Meuron and Caesar Zumthor in Basel, Switzerland. He established his eponymous studio in Paris. Working on a diverse range of projects that include product design, architecture, and exhibition space design, Léonard Kadid focuses on structural experimentation to explore essential forms. His work is minimalist and understated yet also idiosyncratic. The designer has exhibited his work around the world, including at Maison & Object in Paris, the Lake Como Design Fair in Italy, and the Beijing International Design Triennial in Beijing, China. Léonard Kadid currently lives and works in Paris, France.

French architect and designer Léonard Kadid works across scales, from furniture and objects to architecture, with a studio practice grounded in material research and construction. He studied at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland and the École d’Architecture de la Ville et des Territoires in Paris, and worked at international offices including Herzog & de Meuron in Basel before founding Léonard Kadid Studio in Paris.

In 2022, Kadid won the French design prize FD100 for Pier, a solid oak chair collection produced by Resident, and his Möja lamp entered the permanent collection of the Mobilier National. He won the FD100 again in 2024 and has twice been a nominee for the Grand Prix de la Création, in 2018 and 2024.

Kadid’s collections also include Atlas and Tal for Kann and the Athens stool for Lemon. He teaches an architecture studio at the École d’Architecture de Normandie in Rouen, a role he has held since 2022, and his work has been shown at venues including the Pavillon de l’Arsenal in Paris, as well as galleries and design fairs in Switzerland and Italy.
