Matteo Leorato Re-Imagines Marble
Barcelona, Spain
Industrial Design
Born in Verona, Italy, Matteo Leorato developed a regard for design from an early age, which he then refined through traveling and immersion in other cultures. Soon after completing his studies, the designer moved to China to work for an Italian architecture firm. Matteo Leorato’s travels have taken him from his native Italy to New York, China, Australia, and Spain. A multi-disciplinary designer, Matteo Leorato uses his practical workshop experience, international vision, and creative insight to design products for modern interiors. He favors marble as a foundation for his work, as the material has a purity of form, distinctive features, and timeless beauty. At the same time, the designer places this inherently traditional material in a new light. Products reference Italian architecture, offer a playful twist on familiar forms, or provide a contemporary take on classic terrazzo flooring. Matteo Leorato currently lives and works in Barcelona, Spain.
