Rafael de Cárdenas is a New York-based designer and creative director. After studying Fashion Design at the Rhode Island School of Design and working as a menswear designer at Calvin Klein, he completed a Master of Architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 2006, he founded his own studio in New York. The multidisciplinary firm completes a wide range of projects, from residential and commercial architecture to interior design, furniture design, and brand development. Notable clients include Nike, Kenzo, Cartier, Nordstrom, and Baccarat, among many others. In 2017, Rizzoli published a monograph of the studio’s first ten years of work. Rafael de Cárdenas has received many awards for his designs and his work has been published widely, including in Architectural Digest, Vogue Italia, The Wall Street Journal, Elle, and Juxtapoz.
