Studio Lievito was founded in Florence in 2010 by designers Francesco Taviani, Laura Passalacqua and Jacopo Volpi. The name of the studio comes from the Italian word for “leaven”, which references the concept of creating a reaction between different elements to bring a new design to life. The studio aims to link past and future by celebrating traditional artisan skills as well as modern technology, with manufacturing methods refined and upgraded through a “slow design” perspective. Creative and fresh, the studio’s projects often feature a focus on harmony and balance along with witty details that give a deeper dimension to the designs. After launching the first collection at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2012, the studio continued to exhibit work at various events and galleries in Italy and worldwide. The practice now collaborates with a range of brands, both national and international. In 2017, Studio Lievito took part in the Young Designers Under 35 show at the Triennale Design Museum.
