Gianni Botsford Architects

London, United Kingdom

Gianni Botsford Architects has worked from London since 1996, taking on projects that run from one-off houses to cultural buildings and masterplans. Each commission starts with the same method: open conversation, research into place and climate, and a quick shift from sketches to physical and digital models. Dozens of test models are common; they let the team study light, massing, and programme from the inside out—room by room, then outward to street, city, and landscape.

Recent work shows how that process plays out on very different sites: Light House and House in a Garden in London’s back-lot conditions; Casa Ki-Ké in the Costa Rican hills; a beach pavilion and tower in The Bahamas; a research tower in Chengdu. Current projects include a re-worked Victorian house in north London and a family estate in Northern Ireland.

The studio’s approach grew out of research done at the Architectural Association on daylight, ecology, and digital craft, and it continues to inform teaching roles at Studio in the Woods, the Royal College of Art, and other schools.
