Kooo architects is a Tokyo- and Shanghai-based architecture and design studio founded by Shinya Kojima and Ayaka Kojima. Established in 2015, the practice works across architecture, interiors, furniture, lighting, landscape, and graphic design, with projects spanning hospitality, retail, residential, cultural, and commercial spaces. Rooted in a close reading of people, place, history, and craft, kooo architects creates spaces that move beyond standardized materials and anonymous urban environments, favoring raw textures, local character, and details shaped by human sensibility. Through its renovation brand Ichijo-Toma, the studio also explores Japanese aesthetics, craftsmanship, and contemporary ways of living, extending its work beyond design into research, workshops, products, and community-focused cultural programming.
