Surreal and fascinating, this seemingly floating structure built in a forested area captivates with its fairy-tale like appearance as well as with its gloomy ambience. The house was designed by award-winning H3T Architects, a Czech architecture studio founded in 2009. From the beginning, the practice favored creating temporary objects or distinctive small buildings in unexpected contexts to generate a strong reaction. In 2017, after completing numerous more traditional projects, H3T Architects goes back to its roots with the mesmerizing “Flying Black House”, located in a woodland area in Czech Republic.

The structure “floats” underneath the arch of an old railway bridge, its suspension mechanism cleverly hidden from sight. But stepping closer, one discovers thin steel cables, which almost disappear from sight in a snowy landscape. Climbing up a ladder, guests find a cozy living room with a wood-burning stove, as well as a sleeping area in a loft section. Windows allow natural light inside while also connecting the interior to nature. Clad in matte black wood, this magical house stands out in a winter landscape, its alluring presence bringing people closer to discover its secrets. Photography by BoysPlayNice.
