Founded in 2010, Helsinki-based architecture and design studio Poiat launched its first furniture range in 2014. The Lavitta collection pays homage to traditional Finnish outdoor furniture, updating the classic silhouette for modern interiors. The distinctive furniture design blends clean lines and elegant silhouettes with the textures and natural colors of wood. The collection includes the Lavitta Chair, rectangular dining tables, round tables, and a bench.
The chairs feature a criss-cross design – one section forms the seat and the rear legs, while the other features the tall backrest and front legs. By mold pressing two pieces of plywood together, the studio ensured that each piece is durable as well as lightweight. Finishes include staining and lacquer treatments, with colors also ranging from light sandy brown to black and even teal.
