The Tsinova ION Smart And Compact Electric Bike

In a race to build the perfect urban bicycle, it seems that companies make increasingly lighter and smaller e-bikes. The ION electric bicycle designed by Chinese brand Tsinova also adds ‘smart’ to the mix. Created for urban dwellers, ION has a compact size and a feather-like build – at least in bike terms. Weighing just 14kg (or around 30lbs), the bike comes with an aviation grade 6061 aluminum alloy frame. The trapezoidal shape has obvious aesthetic advantages, but it also provides more comfort while riding. Copper/white or brown/black colors enhance the stylish look of the modern design.

Other features include 20’’ wheels and a battery that weighs only 1 kg and charges completely in two hours. The battery provides power to the 180W electric motor, offering a range of up to 70km and a speed of up to 20km per hour. The smart e-bike features the ingenious VeloUp belt drive transmission system; it uses a range of sensors to analyze the terrain and the user’s riding style, modifying the electric assistance accordingly. A custom app offers additional information as well as other features. ION made its debut at Eurobike, with plans to release the design in both China and the rest of the world, at a price of around $1,700. Photographs© Tsinova.
