The GR2 Gravel Racer Bike

A versatile bike that takes customization to another level.

Based in Oregon, Argonaut Cycles makes custom carbon fiber bikes by hand. The company has received recognition for its designs, with the innovative Gravel Racer bike winning the Best In Show award at the 2015 North American Handmade Bicycle Show. That year, Argonaut Cycles also made history by becoming the first carbon bike builder to take the coveted award home. Now, the company has launched a design that sets a new standard in the custom bike market. Setting itself firmly apart from other bikes, the GR2 gravel racer features completely customized, rider-specific carbon fiber layups.

Lightweight and agile, the bike weighs only 16 lbs. It comes with a full carbon bladder molded frame as well as a finely tuned geometry and components that ensure it rides like a charm on a wide range of surfaces. Indeed, with different tire set-ups, the GR2 can perfectly handle an all-day gravel race or a short ride on a smooth road. The bike has clearance for 700x38c tires, Speed Release front and rear thru-axle, and an ENVE GRD Fork. Other specs include a Chris King i8 Headset and Chris King T47 bottom bracket. The price for the standard frameset starts at $6500, but Argonaut Cycles offers an impressive range of custom options to make the bike extra special. These include 15 frame geometry options and bespoke frames, with some awesome build kits also available. Photographs© Argonaut Cycles.
