House JA in Guarda by Filipe Pina + Ines Costa

House JA was extensively renovated by architects Filipe Pina and Ines Costa. Standing in Guarda, Portugal, the home blends old and new elements as well as urban and rural influences. The resulting house has the sleek look of a contemporary flat and the character of a rustic farmhouse or barn, all housed in a historic building. Outside, the stone facade is framed by black cubic structures. Inside, the polished floors contrast with the raw wooden walls and doors in the main room. Walking up the stairs, one can look over the timeless courtyard and admire the tall windows and giant wood stove placed in the kitchen. Photography by Joao Morgado
