Introducing Komolab

Restrained design meets function.

“A pursuit in the art of useful aesthetics.” This is the stated goal of Louisiana-based brand Komolab. And admiring the Komolab collection, it’s clear the design-focused furniture and accessory studio has achieved its mission. Featuring a minimalist aesthetic, the brand’s products blend into contemporary spaces with ease. Premium solid wood and concrete allow designer and company founder Kyle Comeaux to give more character to the designs. At the same time, these complementing materials explore the contrasts between the warmth of wood and the cool urban feel of concrete.

Crafted in-house, the furniture and home accessories bring together modern design and traditional workmanship. Indeed, the brand highlights the importance of craftsmanship with optimized techniques which make the most of the fine materials. For example, Komolab uses a delicate mold-making process to cast concrete, resulting in a perfectly smooth surface with a one-of-a-kind texture to sets every object apart from the next. The studio also uses domestic hardwoods for more peace of mind. Wood palettes range from walnut and white oak to oak/ebony dyed and maple.

Every Komolab product impresses thanks to elegant simplicity, but the Wall Rack also stuns with its multi-functional design. Made from solid wood, the wall has a minimal aesthetic and a touch of Nordic style. More than just a chic hanger for coats, the rack comes with a tack board that allows the user to easily pin notes and keep them on view. And that’s not all. The studio integrated a mail slot at the top as well as a handy magnetic key-holder on the lower section. A true 4-in-1 product.

The range also includes a stool that brings together sculptural wooden legs and a simple concrete seat. Incense burners, trays, and an ingenious soap dish complete the product line-up, along with an elegant planter that provides a pedestal-like base for greenery. Beyond their different purposes, all of these Komolab designs share a distinct character. One that can transform everyday items into heirlooms, passed down in a family for generations.
