The Karimoku Office Furniture Collection

An office collection specially designed with flexible and dynamic workspaces in mind.

Founded in 2009 by Japanese furniture manufacturer Karimoku, Karimoku New Standard is an innovative brand that collaborates with leading international designers to produce cutting-edge designs. The new Karimoku office furniture collection offers a practical solution to create flexible, dynamic and functional workspaces, either at home or in an office. The range comprises three pieces of furniture. Designed by Swiss-based design practice BIG-GAME in collaboration with Giroflex (part of Flokk) and Karimoku New Standard, the giroflex 150 offers a modern take on the classic wooden office chair. This design also celebrates the 150th anniversary of Giroflex. Based on the Holson, a chair created in the 1950s by German designer Arno Votteler, giroflex 150 pays tribute to the heirloom quality of solid wood furniture, but in a fresh design.

Office furniture inspired by industrial elements and architecture.

The Karimoku office furniture range also features two new designs created by Berlin-based design firm Geckeler Michels. First introduced at Orgatec Tokyo in April, the Fence Sofa now joins the Karimoku office furniture line. The sofa references industrial pallets with its imaginative design. It features a wooden structure and subtly rounded legs that provide support to the seat, backrest and padded walls. Reminiscent of an architectural element, the sofa boasts angular forms and clean lines as well as a shelter-like feel. The high walls create a space where users can enjoy more privacy, either for one-to-one meetings or solo work sessions. This sofa comes in both 2-seater and 3-seater versions.

Also created by Geckeler Michels, the Spectrum High ST190 meeting table is now a part of the permanent Karimoku office furniture range. The table takes inspiration from minimalist Japanese architecture. It boasts graphical lines with sawhorse-style, wide legs and a thin top. Created to accommodate dynamic and ad-hoc meetings, the table can seat up to 6 people. Like other products from Karimoku, this one is made from sustainably sourced Japanese wood. Finally, all three products come in different colors, finishes and/or sizes. Photographs © Karimoku New Standard.
