Kaschkasch Cologne, a design studio founded by Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider, makes a strong argument for minimalistic design. By paring the everyday object down to its fundamental geometry and form, Kallus and Schneider find ways to highlight the beauty of the familiar. A design for hanging pendant lights features a naked bulb with a colored disk above, as if a regular shade were pushed flat. A coat rack composed of three intersecting tubes appears as a signpost painted in vibrant colors such as fuchsia and wintergreen. The entire collection of works shares a theme of reinventing the overlooked and laying bare old secrets.
