The Kristalia Bodoni Table Collection

A minimalist table series inspired by a late 1700s font.

Designed by Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of London-based design firm Industrial Facility for Italian company Kristalia, the Bodoni table series is as minimalist as it is bold. To create it, the designers turned to an unusual muse: the Bodoni font family. Originally designed by Italian typographer, designer, and publisher Giambattista Bodoni in 1798, the font provided the perfect foundation for the table’s distinctive character. The duo took inspiration from the font’s contrast of thick vertical and thin horizontal lines. Minimal as well as almost archetypal in its form, the table boasts four, pillar-like legs and a lightweight, slender top.

The balance between the contrasting elements creates a typographic composition. The top is also conveniently extendable, allowing the user to adjust the length of the table as needed. As a result, the Bodoni series suits anything from family dining rooms to home studios and offices. Finally, a simple, user-friendly assembly system makes the tables easy to put together straight out of the package or to take apart for transportation when needed. Available in different sizes, the Bodoni collection also comes in different colors and finishes. Options include tops in marble, Fenix, or Dekton, all of them paired with legs made from lightweight and durable aluminum. Kristalia launched the Bodoni table collection during Milan Design Week 2022. Apart from this series, the company also introduced the Tonbo chair and armchair, designed by Kensaku Oshiro.
