Layered Acrylic Art Meets Furniture In The DelMare Collection 2017

Recreating the beauty of the sea and natural seascapes, the layered acrylic art DelMare Collection 2017 blurs the line between sculpture and functional objects. Designed by Romanian sculptor and designer Eduard Locota, the handcrafted range uses a special blend of materials to bring the artistic furniture to life. These include soft marble and acrylic glass as well as Jesmonite and wood.

At the heart of the collection lies nature. “Inspired by my love and my respect for nature, my purpose is to create vibrant functional artwork that can achieve harmony between a modern space and the natural space,” said Locota. Referencing the north-western coast of France and the Étretat commune, La Falaise Bench (The Cliff) has a monumental presence. 1.6 meters long, it weighs over 200 kg. The epoxy glass top with an acrylic paint finish boasts emerald and blue colors, complementing the sculptural shape of the Jesmonite stone base. A smaller side table provides a convenient space for glasses and it also fits inside the larger object. Crete Table alters its colors in different light conditions, its blue acrylic top bringing the seabed of the Greek island to life. Tipping the scales at over 1 ton, the table has an eye-catching base with three marble legs.

Reminding of a wave crashing into the ocean, Wave Lounge has a distinctive shape that also enhances comfort. The hand polished surface allows the 60 layers of acrylic to shine while also displaying the relationship between opacity and transparency. Other designs from the collection include the Immerso side tables and the Azzuro coffee table as well as several wall decorations inspired by the ocean or the Maldives.
