Lightwood Desk by MARUNI and Jasper Morrison

A Glimpse into the Elegant, Adaptable Desk Design: Embodying Jasper Morrison’s Gentle Minimalism.

The Lightwood desk, a sleek and versatile addition to MARUNI’s furniture collection, is the result of a collaboration with renowned designer Jasper Morrison. Showcased at the 61st edition of the prestigious Salone del Mobile.Milano, the desk exemplifies the fair’s commitment to innovative design under the leadership of Salone President Maria Porro. This year, the event boasted a fresh layout, complete with immersive installations, engaging conferences, interactive vertical workshops, thematic exhibitions, and curated bookshops, as well as site-specific installations.

Originally conceived in 2022, Jasper Morrison designed the Lightwood desk for the Shiroiya Hotel, located in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. However, the far-reaching impact of the coronavirus pandemic and the subsequent global shift toward remote work led Morrison to revisit and refine the design, adapting it for the broader Lightwood Collection. Recognizing the increasing importance of desks in home interiors, the updated design now features a practical drawer and a subtly reimagined panel design to better serve the needs of a post-pandemic world.

MARUNI, a brand known for its exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail, understands that wooden desks have become an essential piece of furniture for many. The Lightwood desk, available in maple, oak, or ash, represents the best of the collection, blending understated elegance with adaptability. The Lightwood desk’s minimalist design is not just eye-pleasing, but super functional too, making it a top pick for your home office or workspaces of all kinds.
