Magma Collection By Ferréol Babin

French designer Ferréol Babin studied space design and architecture before realizing that he loved designing products and creative objects more. A one year residence at Benetton’s Fabrica soon followed, further shaping the designer’s distinctive style. His projects combine “a poetic and emotional dimension” with thoughtful and functional design. The Magma series has a strong artistic tone, transforming ordinary lighting into sculptural pieces. Handmade from wood with tinted Jesmonite – a water-based casting resin – the two lamps not only provide a play between minimal design and art, but they also highlight the relationship between light and darkness.

One-of-a-kind and eye-catching, the LED lamps boast a textured surface and color contrasts. Magma I features black and pink tones, while Magma II comes with a classic combination of black and white. You can find both lamps on the website of Miami-based Aybar Gallery, with prices available upon request. Photographs© Ferréol Babin and Aybar Gallery.
