Manual’s 2019 Ceramics Collection

Minimalist tableware that celebrates slow living.

Founded by Craighton Berman, Chicago-based brand Manual celebrates the slow living movement with practical designs that help the user make the most of every day. The company’s name refers both to the act of crafting things by hand and to the standard ‘user manual’ booklets which explain how a product works. Manual’s products thus aim to inspire with creative designs that focus on the value of the slow and meaningful moments in life. The brand’s 2019 Ceramics Collection highlights all of these concepts with a minimalist design.

The line revolves around the daily rituals of coffee and tea making, but also includes objects designed to blend into other areas of a modern home. Made of ceramic, the products have a matte black glaze finish. Paired with a minimal aesthetic and pure forms, the objects look at home anywhere. The bamboo lids feature a wavy design that reminds of corrugated roofs. Both practical and eye-catching, the grooves offer a handy place for spoons or utensils. Rubber seals on the lids also keep the contents fresh for longer.

The 2019 Ceramics Collection includes a range of versatile products. Apart from the Mug and Creamer, the line features small, medium, and large containers. The Small Crock is perfect for sugar or salt, while Medium Crock provides an elegant space for tea, spices, or butter. Made with a capacity of 12 ounces, Large Crock can hold anything from coffee beans to rice, beans, or granola. A Burn Plate that works with candles, incense, or sage completes the range. Launched through Kickstarter, the products from the collection are also available separately and in different sets. Prices range from $20 to $145. Since the brand has already manufactured the line, shipping will start shortly after the campaign ends on February 23, 2019. Photographs© Manual.
