Membrane Lounge Chair by Benjamin Hubert

How is it that something this simple can be so, so good? Irresistible warm bread spread with butter, a tickle fest with a two year old, dangling your feet in the pool, holding hands for the first time as a couple in public…these things don’t cost gobs of money and they aren’t necessarily on our to do list in our crazy day. However, they make life sweet, reminding us not to underestimate the simple things.

This lesson stands true for the ultra lightweight Membrane Lounge Chair by Benjamin Hubert for Classicon. So basic in construction, so easy to love, this guy is made of stretched woven mesh over a aluminum and steel frame weighing just 3 kilograms total. Without skipping a beat on style the chair successfully leaves minimal carbon footprint with a design requiring very small amounts of polyurethane foam compared to most other armchairs. In the words of the artist, “The chair stems from the studio’s materials driven, process led, industrial design approach, and research into the construction of tents and sports products with a focus on space frames and stretched textile.”
