The Moore Hotel

A stylish boutique hotel in Chelsea, New York.

Visiting New York is often included on the bucket lists of travelers, whether they’re from another place in the U.S. or from a different country or continent altogether. Now, there’s a new boutique hotel where out-of-towners can stay during their visit. Located in the Chelsea, in the former home of writer and scholar Clement Clarke Moore, The Moore Hotel comprises 81 rooms and six floors. The brownstone, tree-lined street is quiet and charming but also provides convenient access to shops, cafés, and galleries. Interior designer Vanessa Guilford designed the hotel with elegant but warm and cozy rooms.

Darker hallways lead to the bright and welcoming rooms. Teak wall panels and wood furniture and flooring add an organic counterpoint to clean white walls and black curtains. Desks also provide a comfortable space to work, if needed. While all of the rooms immerse guest in the neighborhood and bustling atmosphere of the city, the corner Queen rooms stand out as they open to views of the Empire State Building. The bathrooms boast glossy black tiles on the walls as well as golden matte brass accents. This play between light and dark, lustrous and matte appears throughout the hotel.

On the ground floor, there’s a café that serves locally sourced coffee in a lounge area. The Moore Hotel also has a rooftop wine bar called Moore Wine, which opens during the warmer seasons. Here, guests can enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail while admiring the iconic NYC skyline. Finally, they can make the most of their stay by exploring the neighborhood. Apart from the Foragers Market located nearby, the area also offers easy access to theaters, galleries, parks, and sustainability-focused restaurants. Photographs © The Moore.
