Designed by Katsutoshi Sasaki + Associates, the Imal House is a long two-story built on a narrow plot in Okazaki, Aichi, Japan. The family home contains many overlapping spaces, including a corridor that doubles as a study and a garden that can serve as a dining or guest room, so that people may flow through the entire space and never feel cramped in one small room. Embodying minimalism, the interior features white walls and wooden floors. Sunlight softens the look and feeds the clients’ small collection of potted plants in the interior garden on the ground floor and on the second-floor terrace, giving both levels of the house a natural sense of ease.
