NOOKA x Cubify 3D Printed Watches

Founded by Matthew Waldman, NOOKA is a watch brand and general purveyor of futuristic goods. In 2014, they will release their updated Zub 40 line of wearable timepieces, developed in collaboration with Cubify. As the partnership suggests, the watches are made using 3D-printing, an exciting move that allows for on-demand manufacturing which is customizable and sustainable. The watches in the collection will vary greatly, but the prototypes of course offer a guide for potential buyers. Customers will have a choice between digital Zub Zoo and analog Zub Zan watch faces in a variety of colors ranging plain black to orange sherbet. Both faces are boxy in shape, with the Zub Zoo being the more square of the two. The Zub Zan, meanwhile, distinguishes itself with a three-hand movement and raised, glossy index hour markers. Either face attaches to the black nylon straps, which, thanks to 3D-printing, come in many patterns, including honeycomb, waves, and industrial lattice. In addition to being compatible with 3D-printing, nylon is a durable material likely to survive not only one’s youth but also the next technological revolution.
