Designer Alessandro Zambelli will present two new furniture and tableware collections at Milan Design Week. WIRE will be exhibited at Via Matteo Bandello 14 in Spazio Rossana Orlandi, and LEVANTE will show at Via Oslavia 3 in Ventura Lambrate.
As the name suggests, WIRE is a collection of metal furniture. Made of steel siding and brass fittings, the five-piece set includes a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, a cupboard, and two storage units. The collection comes in pastel cream, salmon pink, and musk green, nostalgic colors which accent the overall design’s nineteenth century influence. More than an imitation of European Art Nouveau, WIRE blends retro styles with minimalist and futurist aesthetics, playing on color, delicate lines, and geometric forms in order to project past, present, and future onto the same plane.

LEVANTE, a new project created for the designer collective PADIGLIONEITALIA, explores what they call the creativity and unpredictability of Mediterranean culture. The bowls reference wine, a prominent symbol the Mediterranean, through their earthenware forms and stopper-like cork legs. The ceramics also embrace the appearance of instability, such that the asymmetrical designs can be turned over and used in alternative ways.
