OKO from Biomega is an Eclectic Electric Bike

Electric bikes sit in an odd niche of urban transportation. They offer the size and geometry of a bicycle combined with some of the perks of a moped or electric scooter, but often find it difficult to deliver on this ideal pairing. Hoping to change this trend for the better, the new OKO electric bike from Danish company Biomega gives users a balanced product in a sleek design.

Built in collaboration with KiBiSi, the OKO features a unique carbon-fiber frame, made with integrated fenders and rear mudguards that make it one of the most stunning bikes on the market. The battery is placed in such a way as to evenly distribute the 40 lb. (18 kg) weight, giving a smooth ride nimbly up hills and through traffic. The OKO can go up to 20 mph (25km/h) for an estimated 25 – 40 miles (45 – 65 km), covering ground much easier than a regular bike could accomplish for a daily commute. Despite the complexities of integrating all the electrical components into the frame, KiBiSi has done wonders as barely any wires are left visible (save for one to the front wheel and a few to the handlebars), maintaining the integrity of the bike’s bold design. The overall design is inspired more by the look of fuel-powered two wheelers than other electric bikes, which pays off in spades as the OKO matches and exeeds the elegance of both standard and electric rides on the road today. And to meet the needs of all customers, the bike is available in 2 or 8 speed, as well as white or silver finish and three sizes. The OKO is available for pre-order now, but is expected to ship soon in January and February (depending on whether you order a large, medium or small size bike).
