OUTside the box

“Berlin helps us stay open-minded. Berlin is our home.” Objekte Unserer Tage, or “Object of Our Days,” lives up to Germany’s outstanding reputation in the world of design. While many modern products seem generic and short-lived, the newly-founded design studio hopes to heal a market “flooded by new ideas, materials and trends” such that “one can really love a piece of furniture again.” Simple structures, sustainable materials, and sturdy construction make each and every piece a sensible choice that will last for years to come – like the oiled ash wood and powder-coated steel FISCHER shelf that comes together easily without any hardware or tools, or the wooden SCHULZ chair with its classic silhouette.

Simple structures, sustainable materials, and sturdy construction make each and every piece a sensible choice that will last for years to come.

Potsdam University graduates Anton Rahlwes, David Spinner, and Christoph Steiger see their work at OUT as an attitude towards life, an attempt to create living spaces and living ideas. Their meticulous craftsmanship speaks a language of timeless elegance and impeccable ergonomics with incredible fluency. OUT is design in its purest form: functional, versatile, and all-around beautiful. From everyday objects like mouth-blown glasses and wooden candle holders to their collection refined surfaces and seating, the Berlin brand is an excellent model of the power of simplicity, an ageless aesthetic in the modern world of transitory trends. Each piece is a simultaneous “blend of statement and understatement” that fits seamlessly in just about any space — small or large, simple or complex. OUT’s driving principle of universal design paired with their flexible frame of mind opens up an exciting world of possibilities for accessible, long-lasting design.
