Belgian designer Quentin de Coster has a penchant for creating ultra-minimal designs that have a playful character and also tell a story. The PIETER modern contemporary bookcase prototype follows the same recipe. Inspired by the iconic Dutch artist Piet Mondrian and his abstract artworks with clean patterns, the shelf unit has a totem-like silhouette that draws attention at first sight. Minimal yet imposing, the bookcase has a convenient modular design. Whether used as a single, standalone unit, or a group to create a larger shelving system, PIETER provides the ideal solution to display books and decorative objects in style.
The asymmetric shelves give the design a dynamic look. At the same time, they reference the growth of a plant on a supporting stake. Providing optimal support, the tall plate ensures perfect stability. Beyond the refined aesthetic, the shelving system also features a blend of premium materials. The bead-blasted stainless steel shelves attach to the raw steel or patinated brass plate via subtle screws.
