A Sculpture Series By Ken Kelleher

Bringing digital sculpture to life.

American artist Ken Kelleher designs thought-provoking sculptures to create a dialogue about the meaning of art and of crafting an object. An object that may not have a utilitarian value, but has a deeper purpose. An artwork that engages and surprises the viewer. While he creates sculptures using traditional materials such as wood and metal, his digital series enhances this concept. Monumental and imposing, the digital sculptures appear transposed in public spaces, courtyards, museums, or galleries. They are organic, industrial, inspired by the digital landscape, or conceptual.

Featuring repeated forms or fluid shapes, vibrant colors or neutral hues, the compositions redefine the spaces they occupy while placing them in a new light.“Whether the work is large scale, or a smaller more intimate piece, my work is about placemaking, creating work that responds to the space around it, creates delight or engages consciousness, and informs imaginations,” explains the artist. The viewer is thus encouraged to explore the meaning of sculpture in general and of each artwork in particular. While some creations have a playful or whimsical design, other explore pop culture elements or even darker concepts. Beyond this digital series, Ken Kelleher collaborates with architects, designers, and galleries to create artworks based on his original concepts. Images ©Ken Kelleher.
