Skagerak’s Edge Collection

A terracotta tea set inspired by the ancient Greek amphora.

Founded in 1976, Danish brand Skagerak is deeply anchored in Nordic tradition. Even the company’s name references a special place: the Skagerrak strait which links Denmark to its Scandinavian neighbors. Paying homage to Nordic heritage and design values while also embracing innovation and state-of-the-art technology, the brand makes furniture and home accessories for modern living spaces. The company collaborates with talented designers to create beautifully minimalist products that look at home anywhere. Premium quality materials and expert craftsmanship combine in the brand’s collection to ensure the products stand the test of time and last for generations. Created by design duo Stilleben, the Edge terracotta tea set follows the same pattern.

Co-founders Ditte Reckweg and Jelena Nordentoft previously met at The Danish Design School and founded the popular and internationally recognized Stilleben gallery and shop in the heart of Copenhagen. Thus, it comes as no surprise that the terracotta Edge collection blurs the line between sculptural and functional design. The word terracotta means “baked earth” in Italian and refers to the low or high-fired clay technique. Drawing inspiration from the pottery crafts of ancient Greece and Egypt, the collection references the iconic amphora through refined details.

The Edge collection includes everything for the daily tea ritual. From mugs and cups to a teapot, milk jug, and sugar bowl. All of them boast a matte surface with a porous texture on the exterior, enhancing terracotta’s rustic aesthetic further. Inside, the products boast a glazed finish that protects them against moisture and extends their durability. Brass and wood accents create a play between colors and textures while adding more dimension to the designs. Hand-thrown in Portugal, the collection maintains Skagerak’s high standards of quality. A perfect blend of Nordic minimalism, rustic charm, history, and tradition. Discover Edge in our shop.
