Offering a sculptural take on furniture design, the new Slice Series features minimalist forms and geometric shapes. To create the collection, Seoul-based Studio Jeong Ho Ko collaborated with Frnkl Design Studio. The Slice Series explores the perfect balance between relaxation and tension by using simple geometric forms. Made of metal, the cylindrical and rectangular geometric stools feature perfect cuts that slice the volumes in two.
This creative design aims to find the balance between two contrasting states: tension and relaxation. The designers believe that tension heightens sensitivity and thus contributes to a clearer understanding of one’s surroundings. Clarity, in turn, can lead to a relaxed state that also allows the user to fully appreciate it. The Slice Series brings the two together in sculptural silhouettes.
The collection includes metal cylindrical and rectangular forms, both boasting precise slices. Sharp edges contrast raw surfaces and polished finishes, enhancing the minimalist design further. The Slice Series is also multi-functional. Suitable for a wide range of uses, the volumes work as side tables, geometric stools, or decorative display units.
