Swarm Lamp by Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau

In place of lightning bugs, Swedish studio Jangir Maddadi Design Bureau has fostered a family of lighting bugs. Appropriately christened Swarm Lamp, these wooden and glass lights hang suspended in flight and buzz with the hum of electricity surging through the filament in each bug’s transparent head. The bodies of light hang freely, able to sway ever so slightly as if in conversation with one another. The organic tapering of the wooden thoraxes is anatomically referential to a real insect’s stinger, but Swarm Lamp is a friendly counterpart that is – thankfully – only visually stunning!
